The Appeal
The Appeal is for funds to meet the cost of building the church and Resource Centre.
The Church
The Church is intended to accommodate immediately a congregation of 200-250, and to serve the needs of the community. Its hall and resource centre must be large enough to meet the requirements of the varied activities to be carried out there. In this much needed meeting place a welcome will be extended to all - providing an outreach to the needy, a gathering place for social and leisure activities, an opportunity for youth to meet and be guided in a Christian way of life.
The Resource Centre
The Hall and Resource Centre will include a stage, meeting rooms, toilets, kitchen and storage areas in which groups can keep their own equipment.
The Battle of Culloden
Situated only 3 miles from the Battlefield of Culloden the Church will include a Memorial to all those who died and suffered. On April 16th 1746 the gallant adventure of Prince Charles Edward Stuart to restore his family as rulers of Great Britain failed when his brave Highland army was crushed by the Hanovarian forces on the moor at Culloden. The cruel suppression which followed left a wave of suffering. For all who fell, for all who suffered there will be a time for prayer. It is hoped that a stain glass window will be placed in the church to commemorate the Battle of Culloden.
Culloden Memorial Window of Reconciliation
The very name Culloden carries with it many poignant memories envoking thoughts of pain, suffering and death after the Battle in 1746. A Church is being created to serve its community and stand as a place of reconciled memories.
The Culloden Bells
A bell tower with a peal of bells would be a landmark and their music ringing out over the community calling man and woman to the worship of God would serve as a reminder that our Lord is in their minds. Church bells were introduced into Scotland in the 6th Century. Their use became widespread throughout the Church in the 8th Century. There is preserved in Cawdor Castle near Culloden the ancient hand bell from Barevan Church. A peal at Culloden would revive the use of bells in our local setting.
